EASY EXTRA BUTTERY FLAKY HOMEMADE BISCUITS
These flaky homemade biscuits are a must have on your breakfast menu! They’ve got butter, lots of it, that adds saltiness which then creates for you, this perfect flaky biscuit. They pull apart so easily & melt in your mouth. Serve them warm with some butter & jam to enjoy for breakfast.
My homemade biscuits are relatively easy to make. I’m almost positive you have all, if not, most of the ingredients in your house already. The prep work is probably the most “difficult” but only because it’s timely. Once you’ve made the dough, it has to rest for about 30 minutes. Other than that, these biscuits are pretty simple!
When I think of breakfast, I think a little bit of sweet with a little bit of savory. If I have eggs with bacon, I have to have something sweet to follow. These biscuits with some strawberry jam hit the spot!
The Ingredients Needed for the Biscuits
One of the ingredients you may not have at home is self-rising flour, if that’s the case, don’t worry I’ve got a trick for ya! I bet you’ll have these ingredients: all-purpose flour, baking powder & salt, was I right? So you’ll take 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 3 tsp baking powder & 1/2 tsp salt. Combine that & it will be equivalent to 2 cups self-rising flour.
For the buttermilk, that may be something else you might not have in your refrigerator. If you have milk & vinegar, don’t panic, you can make it work! You’ll measure out 1 cp of whole milk (or 2 % will also work) & 1 tbsp of white vinegar. Stir to combine & let sit for 10 minutes at room temperature. Boom! You’ve got buttermilk.
With these biscuits, you really can make them any size you’d like. I would recommend that you keep the thickness at 1/2 inch but feel free to play around with the sizing of the biscuit!
Tips
If you’re planning to make biscuits for breakfast, allow yourself enough time. These need to rest for about 30 minutes before you can bake them.
My flaky homemade biscuits are tasty with just some good ole butter but if you want to get a little fancy, drizzle them with some honey!
You can also serve these with butter & a jam of your choice, my favorite is strawberry jam! Apple butter in the Fall is very good too.
