PROTIEN PUMPKIN SMOOTHIE

Its finally Fall and i’ve updated my Pumpkin Smoothie recipe! Over the last year, I have been making a conscious effort to clean up my diet and pay more attention to the ingredients in the foods that I eat. This smoothie is filled with a clean protein powder, simple fruit sugars and healthy fats.

I use Kaged Muscle’s Whey Protein Isolate Powder. One, because of its clean ingredients and two, because Jeff is an Innovator for the company and truly believes in their products. Pumpkin puree should consist of just that, pumpkin only. I like to use coconut water with pulp. Coconut water is super hydrating and the pulp contains extra nutrients which never hurts! The frozen banana add some sweetness and creates the creamy consistency that we love in a smoothie. Chia seeds add a nutty flavor and are a great source of fiber.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR THE PROTEIN PUMPKIN SMOOTHIE

For protein, like I said in the previous paragraph, I like to use Kaged Muscle’s Whey Protein Isolate Powder. They have different flavors to choose from but for this smoothie, I used their vanilla protein powder. They also make a cinnamon French toast protein powder that would go well in this smoothie!

Pumpkin puree should be a most, if not all, grocery stores. I like to use pumpkin puree that has one ingredient – pumpkin. There should be nothing else added to it.

Vita Coco is a good coconut water. They have different flavors but when it comes to this smoothie, plain coconut water with pulp is all you need. You could obviously use plain old water too. But when it comes to smoothies, I try to add in as many nutrients as I can and the coconut water is very hydrating and has those extra nutrients from the pulp.. bonus!

When it comes to the banana, I love using a frozen banana. I use it instead of ice cubes. It creates such a creamy consistency. When I go grocery shopping, I grab some bananas and let them ripen throughout the week. Once they get to my preferred ripeness, I peel them and break them in half, place them in a big ziplock bag and pop them in the freezer.

The chia seeds add a nice touch to the flavor. You could also use flaxseeds as well or instead of chia seeds.

The granola is optional. I typically use just a plain granola. Vanilla granola would be delicious too. I’ll top my smoothies with granola for the crunch factor. Love a good crunch!
