Pan seared dessert wontons that will blow your mind! They are filled with banana and peanut butter or banana and Nutella and then dipped in coconut flakes to coat the bottom creating the perfect coconut crusted peanut butter and banana dessert!
I had extra wonton wraps that needed to be used so I got creative and come up with these tasty guys! Like almost all of my recipes, these are super versatile. Jeff and I love the peanut butter and banana combo so I thought, hey, why not give these a try?! But you could definitely use a different fruit if you don’t love bananas.
If you have extra wonton wraps laying around because, maybe you made my wonton soup earlier in the week haha! These coconut crusted wontons are a fun dessert that you can whip up in no time! This way, nothing goes to waste either.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR THE COCONUT CRUSTED WONTONS
Obviously, you’ll need wonton wraps. I happened to make my SESAME CRUSTED GINGER WONTON SOUP earlier that week so I had extra that needed to be used. You can usually find them in the refrigerated area at your grocery store.
For the coconut crusted peanut butter and banana wontons, if you don’t love banana and peanut butter or banana and Nutella, you could do strawberries and Nutella, yum!
You can use sweetened or unsweetened coconut flakes for the wontons. I used unsweetened because, personally, I think there is enough sweetness coming from the fruit and peanut butter/Nutella. You don’t want it to be too sweet.
TIPS
For this dessert dish, you could use banana or strawberry as your fruit of choice. Peanut butter with the banana and Nutella with the strawberry, mmm!
If you wanted to get fancy, you could fill the wontons with banana and peanut butter, pan sear and steam them. Warm up some Nutella and drizzle it over top.
If you have leftovers and want to warm them up the next day, loosely follow the cooking instructions.

- 10 wonton wraps
- 1 banana sliced into 10 pieces
- peanut butter
- Nutella
- 1/2 cp coconut flakes
Instructions
- Begin by setting up your wonton assembly station. You'll need your wonton wraps. your sliced banana pieces, peanut butter, Nutella, a small bowl of water and a plate with your coconut flakes.Start with a wonton wrap. Place about a teaspoon of either the peanut butter or the Nutella in the center and put a banana slice on top of it. Take your finger, dip it in the water and line the four sides with water, this will help seal the wonton. Take the top right and bottom left corners, bring them to the center, and slightly pinch together. Repeat with the other two corners. There you have your wonton! Repeat this process until you have made all your wontons.Begin warming up your coconut oil in a medium pan over medium heat. While the oil is heating up, dip the bottom of each wonton in water and then into the coconut flakes. Repeat this until you've coated the bottom of each wonton with coconut flakes. When the oil has melted and is hot, place as many of your wontons as you can, in the pan. Let cook for about 3 minutes - until the bottoms are golden. *Be quick when doing this next step* Take 1/4 cup water, pour it into the pan and immediately cover with a lid, turn the heat down to medium-low and let steam for 5-6 minutes. Repeat until you've made all your wontons. Place on a serving dish and serve warm. Enjoy!
